Kingsley Athletics
Kingsley High School is a proud member of the newly formed Northern Shores Conference which includes Boyne City, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Elk Rapids, Grayling, Harbor Springs, and Kalkaska.
We offer interscholastic competition in 13 MHSAA sports: Football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, golf, and track & field, as well as club/cooperative competition in Equestrian, Sideline Cheer, Ice Hockey, Trap Shooting, and Rugby.
The Stags have enjoyed immense success in recent years in both the Northwest Conference and at the state level, winning numerous NWC Championships and MHSAA District, Regional, and State Championships.

Meet Kingsley's Athletic Director

Mr. Miggenburg has served as the AD since 2014. In his tenure, Kingsley athletics has experienced sustained competitive success, increased postseason appearances, and enhanced program visibility.
In 2026, he was named the Region 2 Athletic Director of the Year by the MIAAA. With more than two decades of service in education-based athletics, Miggenburg has built a career defined by leadership, vision, and a deep commitment to student-athletes.
Kingsley Athletics' recent accomplishments include a 2025 Girls Volleyball State Championship, Runner-Up finish at the Varsity Football team at Ford Field, and several State Finals appearances for athletes competing in cross country, wrestling, and rugby.
“The success of our programs reflects the strong culture he has helped build. Most importantly, he ensures our students grow as competitors, teammates, and leaders, and our entire district is proud of the example he sets," says Superintendent Joshua T. Rothwell.
The district was recognized as the Traverse City Record-Eagle Athletic School of the Year in 2018 and has earned the Northwest Conference All-Sports Award five times between 2014 and 2023. He is an active member of both the MIAAA and NIAAA and currently serves as Secretary of the Northern Shores Conference.
"Athletic competition at Kingsley Area Schools is an extension of the classroom and an educational activity that provides outstanding opportunities to teach life lessons. Through participation in interscholastic athletics, Kingsley student-athletes will learn values and skills that help prepare them for the future. Leadership, goal-setting, teamwork, decision making, perseverance, integrity, sacrifice, healthy competition, and overcoming adversity are inherent in the interscholastic athletic framework and also support the academic mission of Kingsley Area Schools.”
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Mr. Miggenburg has been a lifelong athlete and coach, playing third base for the College of Charleston baseball team before earning a BS in Exercise Science and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the Citadel.
