This May, Kingsley freshmen tried their hand at different high-demand jobs at MiCareerQuest.
The event, which invites more than 2,000 regional ninth graders, features dozens of exhibitions across several careers and industries. Students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and duties related to high-wage and high-demand jobs.
"Students were asked to explore both jobs in the medical field and in the trades and were given the idea that it's just as important to know what you like as what you don't like when thinking about future career paths," said KHS counselor Lori Nolf.
Featured career paths included jobs in construction, emergency services like firefighting, automotive and mechanic, and skilled trades like welding.
One Stag said "it was nice to find out what kinds of jobs I can do with animals without having to go to Veterinarian School."
Others learned about potential career paths for the first time, and even discovered some natural talents!
"They said I was a natural at welding! Can I go to the Career Tech Center for welding when I'm a junior?" asked one student to Lori Nolf.
KHS counselors say the day is worthwhile when they see their students excited and talking about future plans.
