Congratulations to KHS Naval Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps. (NJROTC) Stag Battalion Commander Natalie Sterk, who was just named VFW Cadet of the Year for the entire state of Michigan!

“This is a huge honor and well deserved! She will be honored at the VFW State Convention Dinner in June where she will receive a plaque and a $500 scholarship,” said instructor Gunnery Sergeant Mathew Barr. “She will also move on to compete for the National Cadet of the Year award.”

Directors of the VFW reviewed candidates based on criteria like good academic standing, outstanding achievement in their cadet program, demonstrated leadership, and high moral character.

Natalie is a senior and plans to attend Lake Superior State University to study outdoor recreation in hopes of becoming a park ranger.

Congratulations, Natalie!
