"Closing the Achievement Gap: Two Michigan Leaders Take a School from Good to Great"
Years ago, our district implemented the Marzano Teacher Evaluation Model to drive student achievement.
While our students were already performing at high levels, we wanted to help students apply themselves to more cognitively complex tasks.
The model focuses on three key areas: professional development, observation and evaluation, and fully-integrated technology.
Since implementation, Kingsley has closed the gap between the top performing students and the bottom-half of the student population.
"I could watch teachers become more clear and intentional about what they were doing," said Superintendent Dr. Keith Smith. "We all have to have a growth mindset when we learn new things."
