Burrito the Bearded Dragon Joins KMS Science Dept. thanks to Generous Sponsorship

Introducing the newest resident of the Kingsley Middle School science department...Burrito the Bearded Dragon!

The little lizard recently joined Tiffany Smith's eighth grade life sciences classroom thanks to a generous community partnership.

The eighth grade curriculum recently switched to life sciences, and Ms. Smith has been working hard to integrate new additions into her classroom to help students learn about living creatures, biology, habitats, life cycles, and more.

When Pet Supplies Plus of Traverse City heard about the effort, they stepped up to sponsor their next class pet: a bearded dragon named Burrito!

Pet Supplies Plus is donating supplies and ongoing, weekly support including food and habitat supplies.

"We are so excited to be working with Ms. Smith. Having pets in the classroom is not only a great learning experience for students, but it's a great way to introduce connection with animals, stress relief, how to care for them, and how to communicate with those we don't share a language with," said Pet Supplies Plus owner Abagail Lundquist.

"We are incredibly grateful to Abagail and Pet Supplies Plus of Traverse City. Their weekly support has made it possible for our students to learn firsthand about responsibility and animal care," said Ms. Smith.

"Burrito has been a wonderful addition to our classroom community, he is a beautiful animal and has already captured the hearts of our students."

Thank you, Abagail and Pet Supplies Plus, for investing in our classroom and helping make this exciting opportunity possible!
